Jyoti Punja Sign Theatre was established
in B.S. 2048 by active theatre artists of Nepal. Ever
since its establishment, this group has been focusing
on contemporary plays. In its initial days, Jyotipunja
theatre worked primarily in East Nepal. Our performances
in various districts of Sagarmatha zone are exemplary.
In BS 2057, a decade after its establishment, the
Jyotipunja theatre decided to pave a new path in Nepali
theatre by starting the Sign theatre. It was since
then that we have been known as Jyoti
Punja Sign Theatre.
Nepali theatre
world has swum against mighty currents to reach its
present
prosperous shore. The wake of the modern theatre has
injected the prospect of fresh ideas and fresh styles
into the traditional working square to clear way for
the revived and revised theatrical notions and patterns.
Moreover, the recent endevour from media and public
has given theatre a tremendous boost, placing it high
on the art echelon and making it a thing to long for.
Now there are rising talks about careers, fame and
professionalism, which is nothing, short of an achievement
for us. For all this, Nepali theatre owes a fair share
of the deal to the media - paper or electronic. But
the presence of Nepali theatre activities on the net
still remains flat, with hardly any national websites
offering updated contents and related news and forthcoming
events. To fill that very information gap, www.theatrenepal.com
has come to the scene with a promise offering everything
on the Nepali theatre news, reviews, articles, events,
photos and anything one seeks to find in a theatre
website. . . . . . : :
